Welcome to St. Simons Island and Sea Island, Georgia!
Okay, you already made your choice to live here. Now, what’s a great way to find fun things to do and people to do it with? It’s the Island Newcomers Club, of course. Our goal is to acquaint new residents with people, places and activities of the area. The Club is open to all new residents of St. Simons Island, and Sea Island, full- and part-time. We welcome men and women of all ages; couples and singles. Just join us within 2 years of your arrival and you can maintain your Newcomers Club membership for 3 years.
Whether you’re looking for active pursuits or you enjoy a more serene lifestyle, Island Newcomers has something for you. From touring adventures and golf to several book clubs and dining groups, we’re sure we have an activity to please you. We also have regular monthly gatherings for all members to enjoy an evening of food, fun and socializing. Check the About page to learn more detail on our club functions.
To become a member, just go to the “click to join today” links on this website. Our fun-filled season of events runs from September through May. There is a nominal annual membership fee of $40 per season and you can join between July 1st and February 28th.
Of course, we’re proud to mention our loyal and generous sponsors. You’ll see their advertisements here on the website, in our newsletter, and in our membership directory. It’s the support of these local businesses that enables us to subsidize many of the Newcomers Club functions. Please make an effort to patronize these businesses and thank them for their generous sponsorship! Tell them you found them through Newcomers.
If you need additional information about the Island Newcomers Club, please contact any member of the Board of Directors. Just click on the Directors tab at the top of the page to find them on the list and send them an email.

“These past three years being a member of Newcomers was not just an easy and fun way of seeing the beautiful island we live on – It was a great way to meet new friends that were on the same adventure. Russell (the patient and oh so supportive husband of the 2yr Vice President ?) piped in and said Newcomers was the only organization he knew of that had something to do just about every night of the week. You get out of it what you want- If you’re a social butterfly you are covered up with activities and outings and if your laid back you show up if and when you want to!
We even have an Island Buddies group that takes spouses and entertains them when husbands are channel changing in the sofa ?. Of course I had my favorites…Dining in where you get to throw a dinner party and your guest help by bringing a dish….. Dining out where you just show up and enjoy our wonderful island restaurants and fellowship with Newcomers/friends (Russells favorite since I wasn’t running around preparing and him having to blow the walkway)…. The monthly socials are amazing… Party Bridge…Island Buddies…lots and lots more!!!
It’s the best $40 you will ever spend! Membership is September to May and the dues help subsidize the monthly parties and covers all the necessities like insurance, storage facilities and websites.
It’s sad that it only last 3 years but the reward is you can never sneak out without makeup without running into a friendly face you met from Newcomers- I no longer feel like a “Newcomer” and the “Homesickness” I used to feel is no longer. I thank God for this amazing organization and island. ENJOY!”
